These are the terms you buy under when you order something from this site. They sit alongside the Refund and Returns Policy and the Privacy Policy. Nothing here takes away the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
Who you are buying from
David McIntosh, trading as The Carnoustie Caddie. A sole trader based in Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland. There is no office and no staff. I sign the books, pack the parcels and answer the email myself.

What I sell
Signed paperbacks, copies inscribed to whatever wording you give me, and digital downloads. The product page tells you which one you are buying. Photographs are of the real thing, and a signed book is signed by hand, so no two are identical.
Prices, currency and customs
Most of the people who buy from here are in the United States, so this part matters. Prices are set in pounds sterling. The site may show you an approximate figure in your own currency to help you judge it, and that figure moves with the exchange rate. Your card is charged in pounds. Your own bank sets the rate it uses and may add a foreign transaction fee on top, which is between you and them and never reaches me.
Postage is added at checkout and shown in full before you confirm. The total on that screen is the total I take.
Parcels going outside the United Kingdom may attract import duty, tax or a carrier handling fee in the destination country. Those are set by that country, they are payable by whoever receives the parcel, and they are not included in what you pay me. I cannot predict them and I cannot refund them. Every international parcel carries a customs declaration with the contents and the real value on it.
If a price is obviously wrong, and I mean wrong in a way anybody would spot, I will contact you before dispatching rather than hold you to it.
How the order works
Placing an order is an offer to buy. The confirmation email that lands straight afterwards is me telling you it arrived safely, and it is not yet an acceptance. The contract between us is made when I post your parcel, or for a download, when the file is made available to you.
If I cannot fulfil an order, because I have run out, or I cannot post to the address, or something has gone wrong at my end, I will email you and refund you in full. No contract is made in that case.
Payment
Card payments are handled by Stripe and taken when you place the order. Your card number never touches this site and I never see it. If a payment is declined, the order does not go through and nothing is dispatched.
Inscriptions
If you order an inscribed copy you give me the wording at checkout. I write what you send me, so read it back before you confirm, particularly names. A book inscribed to your specification is a personalised item, which means the 14 day cancellation right does not apply to it under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
That is the law. What I actually do is in the Refund and Returns Policy: if I get your inscription wrong, I sign a fresh copy and post it at my own cost.
I will not write anything offensive, and I will not inscribe anything that puts somebody else’s trade mark or copyright in my handwriting. If that comes up I will email you and either agree different wording or refund you.
Delivery
Everything is posted from Carnoustie by Royal Mail, one parcel at a time, with tracking or a certificate of posting. I get orders away as quickly as I can. In the rare week where I am on the bag every day it may take a few days longer, and if anything is going to be slow I will tell you rather than leave you wondering.
Delivery times quoted anywhere on this site are estimates from Royal Mail, not promises I can enforce. The parcel is your property and at your risk once it has been delivered to the address you gave me. If it has not turned up, the waiting times before it counts as lost, and what I do then, are set out in the Refund and Returns Policy.
Check the delivery address before you confirm. If you spot a mistake, email me straight away and I will change it if the parcel has not gone.
Changing your mind, returns and faults
You have 14 days from the day your order arrives to tell me you want to cancel, and a further 14 days to return it, with the exception of inscribed copies and downloads described above. Damaged and faulty goods are put right regardless. The full detail, including how to start a return and who pays the postage, is in the Refund and Returns Policy.
Digital downloads
Downloads are delivered immediately, so you agree at checkout that the download starts at once and that this ends your right to cancel. If a file will not open or the wrong one lands, email me and I will sort it out.
A download is for you. Please do not redistribute it or post it anywhere. Copyright in the books, the writing and the photographs on this site stays with me.
Recommended kit and affiliate links
Some links on this site go to golf equipment and books sold by other retailers, through Amazon Associates and Awin. If you buy through one I earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra and it never changes what I recommend, because I only put my name to kit I have used.
When you buy through one of those links your contract is with that retailer, not with me. Their prices, their delivery, their returns, their terms. These terms of sale cover only what you buy directly from this site.
What this site does not do
I am an independent caddie and this site is not affiliated with Carnoustie Golf Links. Nothing here books a tee time, reserves a caddie or forms any agreement about a round of golf. The course pages are written to help you plan, and the Links is the authority on its own tee sheet.
If something goes wrong
Email thecarnoustiecaddie@gmail.com. I answer my own email and I would rather hear about a problem than have you leave it. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 stand whatever this page says.
Liability
If I break this contract I am responsible for loss you suffer as an obvious consequence of that, up to the value of the order. I am not responsible for business losses, because what I sell here is sold to people for their own use. Nothing on this page limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, or for fraud, and nothing on this page can limit it, because the law does not allow that.
The small print
The terms that apply to your order are the ones on this page on the day you place it. I may update this page, and the date at the top tells you when I last did.
Most of the people who buy from here are in the United States. If you are buying as a consumer from outside the United Kingdom, the consumer protections of the country you live in still apply to you, and nothing on this page takes them away. The 14 day cancellation right set out above is offered to every customer wherever you are, not only to those the UK regulations cover.
This contract is governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom you can also bring a claim in your own courts.
If any part of this page turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still stands.
