Who runs this site
This site is run by David McIntosh, trading as The Carnoustie Caddie, a sole trader based in Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland. I am the data controller for anything you send me through this site, and I am the person who reads it.

What I collect, and why
Orders
When you buy something I collect your name, delivery address, email address, phone number if you give one, what you ordered, and any inscription wording you ask for. I need all of it to take payment, sign the book, post the parcel and put things right if they go wrong. Legal basis: performing our contract.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never reaches this site and I never see it. Stripe holds the payment record under its own privacy policy at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
The email list
If you sign up for the newsletter I collect your email address, and your first name if you give it. Legal basis: your consent. Every email carries an unsubscribe link and I act on it the same day.
Messages
If you email me or use a contact form, I keep the message so I can answer it and find it again if you write back.
The site itself
My host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. The site sets cookies to keep your basket working, to remember which currency you are shown, and to keep you signed in if you have an account.
Affiliate links
Some links to golf equipment and books on this site are affiliate links, through Amazon Associates and Awin. If you buy through one, a cookie tells the retailer the sale came from here and I earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what I recommend. I only put my name to kit I have actually used. The retailer sets that cookie, not me, and their own privacy policy governs what they do with it.
Who your information goes to
- Stripe for payments
- MailerLite for the email list
- Royal Mail for delivery, including the customs declaration on international parcels
- Hostinger, who host the site
- Amazon and Awin, where you follow an affiliate link
Some of these are based outside the UK, including in the United States, and those transfers rely on the safeguards set out in their own terms. I do not sell your information to anybody, and I never will.
How long I keep it
- Order and payment records: six years after the end of the tax year they fall in, because HMRC requires it.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe.
- Messages: as long as they are useful, and I clear out the old ones.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it where I am not obliged to keep it, and object to how I use it. Email me and I will deal with it within a month.
