I am on my Clifton 10s right now. The cushioning is like nothing else — caddied doubles without a twinge. Not a waterproof shoe so pair them with Sealskinz, but the support after seven miles of links fairway puts them at the top of the bag.

FootJoy do a pretty good job and won’t break the bank like Galvin Green. Nothing is fully Scotland-proof — you’d need a pair of waders for that — but these will handle a solid four hours before the full Scottish experience starts to get in. They’re the right choice if Galvin Green is out of budget. Pair with the rain pants below and your Sealskinz.
